Journal sections

RETIC publishes exclusively the following types of manuscripts:

CASE REPORTS

Case reports constitute one of the core sections of the journal. These manuscripts present clinical cases selected for their educational value, clinical relevance, or diagnostic interest, highlighting the role of cardiac imaging in clinical practice.

Case reports must:

  • demonstrate the usefulness of cardiac imaging techniques in specific clinical scenarios,
  • clearly describe imaging findings,
  • include a focused discussion addressing the most relevant aspects of the case,
  • and have a clear educational purpose.

Manuscripts based on high-quality images, figures, and videos are strongly encouraged, accompanied by concise explanatory text to facilitate understanding and learning.

Examples of suitable case reports include, but are not limited to:

  • cases with high educational value,
  • diagnostically challenging or complex cases,
  • innovative applications of cardiac imaging techniques,
  • impact of new technologies on clinical practice.

All case reports must strictly adhere to the CARE Case Report Guidelines and be prepared using the official RETIC Case Report template.

NARRATIVE REVIEW ARTICLES

Narrative review articles aim to provide a critical and up-to-date synthesis of relevant topics in the field of cardiac imaging, with a clinical and educational focus.

These reviews should:

  • address a specific topic of interest to clinical practice,,
  • integrate and critically analyze the available literature,
  • highlight novel, practical, or emerging aspects
  • and facilitate translation of knowledge into routine clinical practice.

Whenever appropriate, manuscripts should be supported by images, diagrams, and figures, accompanied by clear and concise explanations.

Narrative review articles must explicitly state their objective, describe the review methodology, and be prepared using the official RETIC Review Article template.
